They were easy to install with just the right amount of stretch to stay tightly in place, no installation struggling was required. I can't really say if the treble issue has changed in that time, but having gotten used to them I now like the sound very much and have no issues with using them both for everyday listening and critical mixing. I can't get the OEM earpads to seal properly, even my DT 177X earpads too, I had to use Dekoni earpads for it. This one is cheaper option provide ALOT of cushion on your ears, like those puffy pillows but on your ears. My ears never touch the drivers after the replaced. Very good seal over the OEM, I got bit more of bass by using this, not boomy bass, DEEP BASS. The highs rolled over like -2 or -3 db, and soundstage stay the same.
