Each chapter presented a different aspect of life to read about and reflect on, and had journal-type questions at the end to go further. Clarkson has done and seen a lot in her life, and certainly was well equipped to write such a book.I struggled with two chapters near the end—on marriage and motherhood. As a single woman, I unfortunately found nothing to relate to on either front, and really wish she would have even mentioned singleness in passing. The book as a whole, and these chapters in particular, are geared toward a specific demographic...which I met till I got there. Single working woman, no kids—what do I do in the meantime?Thankfully, that was only two chapters! The other 15 were very insightful and made up for it. Defo a book I could reread down the line as I grow and enter new phases of life. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the best books I've ever read *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 13, 2019* I don't typically write reviews unless the product is absolutely exceptional and I simply HAVE to recommend it. And that is the case with this book. This is the first book I've read by Sally and I absolutely loved it. I love the way she writes. She paints a vivid picture in the stories she shares, making you feel like you are right there with her. It captures your attention and heart. Then she applies it to an important lesson, sharing the wisdom she's gained from God through her experiences. And it's so relatable. Even though we're different people with different circumstances, and different ages, I found everything she talked about so applicable to my life and it really helped grow, deepen, and challenge my faith. I love how her words are so gentle and warm and honest. She invites you into her world, almost like you were sitting across from her sipping tea and listening to her talk. In her writing, you can tell she truly cares about reflecting God's love and light to others, and that is why I believe her messages are so powerful. Because she is speaking God's truth (she quotes many verses). I was thoroughly encouraged, inspired, and refreshed by reading her book and I already want to read it again! Every page contained pearls of wisdom of a life of faith through all the joys and struggles. Even though I'm young enough to be her daughter, and I haven't met her, I feel as though she's a kindred spirit. I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading it again as a good reminder of owning my faith, and living my life in a godly way. Well, after I paid for the book. Ha Ha! Sally Clarkson’s writing style is very relational and made me feel as if she really was mentoring me by asking pointed questions that made me think. She calls that section of the book, “Own Your Part” and it allows the reader to come up with his/her own answers to pointed questions or directions. Areas such as faith, Spiritual Disciplines, emotional health, and integrity.The book truly is a no nonsense approach to taking ownership of the life we have been given. You could easily select the sections of the book that speak loudest to your first then go to a different part.
