I have been as high as 1.5. It is unfortunate that it shows up red (supposedly meaning bad result) even if the reading was accurate. It is hard to get into real ketosis. Eating too much protein: eggs, meat, etc. will keep you out of ketosis. I found a free app for my phone called MyFitnessPal. I input everything I eat and it tells me %/grams of protein, fat, and carbs. I strive for 70% fat, 20% protein, and 10% carbs. As careful as I eat, it is very difficult to attain that.
