It functions as I believe it should. Easy to clean, too.I saw some reviews regarding random cracks developing before I purchased. Hearing those reviews makes me go over this with a Hubble telescope before and after each use.Also, I noticed some negative remarks about the plunger not going all the way to the bottom. That is because it should not go all of the way down. If it did, you would get all kinds of grit in the coffee. Keep that in mind.As I said before, this one works for me. It makes the best cold brew coffee, too. Less acidity and, amazingly enough, more caffeine than hot brewed coffee. If you haven't tried the cold brew method, you may want to give it a try. I was looking for a larger carafe to use when guests came, but that I could also use on a day to day basis. I would have to load this up with coffee to truly press the coffee grounds to the bottom of the carafe.
