Being formed from nearly a single (thick) chunk of Japanese AUS 8A steel with the only part that is not molded being the screw-on glass breaker at the end of the hilt, the blade has proved itself in standing up to a lot of abuse in the short time that I've owned it..... A LOT of abuse. Since it's lightweight, easily concealable due to its sleek and narrow design, extremely easy to handle in either normal or reverse-hand grips, and after very little work, its ability to shear jerky and other forms of meat with little effort without reducing the edge's overall durability for various other tasks, I've used the Scimitar for everything I've needed a blade for since I've got it. Best part, for a knife that costs less than $40, it dominates most of my other knives (some of which range in the hundreds and/or are handmade) in its simplicity.Simply, the Scimitar Spike is a high quality blade at a ridiculously low cost with the added bonuses of being easy to carry and honed for everyday use. And let's face it: it's the pure definition of raw and elegant simplicity. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great quality *by K***R on March 1, 2013* Like all in the spike series, this is a limited use knife. This is not something that you take camping with you. This is something that you take the fight to someone with. The curved grip and blade make the knife a great slash and stab combo knife. The small ball as as the pommel can be used for pressure points or an attention getter. The only down I have about these knives is that the sheath, while solid and keeps the knife tight, is difficult to fit to gear or practical mounting. An integral clip or at least something other than random holes to use for paracord would be a great advantage. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Good knife for the price *by P***P on October 23, 2013* Consider this rating to be a 3.5.Positive experience with the seller. Arrived a day before promised deadline. No complaints there.Now on to the knife itself...Pros:1. Great price for decent steel2. Ok sheath3. Mean point. Excellent for slashing4. Solid no gimmick basic knifeNegatives.1. This knife does not come razor sharp. It comes sharp enough to be useful2. The shape of the knife does not lend it easy on cutting tasks. Unlike what someone wrote, I would not use this as a kitchen knife. You can use it for cutting a fruit though (something any knife like object is capable of).3. The length of this knife would make it illegal to carry in almost all but a few states. And it is just too long to be a neck knife really IMO.4. The metal chain thingy this knife comes with is less than useless and I have not found any other decent way to carry it (too small to carry on belt IMO).5. The handle on this thing is awkward. It is too small for a larger than average sized hand. For smaller hands, it will fit but it is like gripping a chopstick. You can get around it by being creative with a paracord though.6.
