This was brought as a special gift for my son as we both love the world of prehistoric creatures. Very beautiful illustrated with not to much heavy information, just perfect for kids that are at the reading age to understand whats being written. Overall a fantastic book.

Lovely huge coffee table book exactly what you'd expect from 'dorling kindersley ' publishers . Target audience adult but not written with over pretentious text ( I always find it hilarious when a book has accolades from reviewers such as the times , Guardian ect on its dust jacket not for its readability or content but as it is packed with unnecessary synonyms making the reader think they are more educated as the wording is more complex ) this great book is suitable for all ages with beautifully illustrated images and clear text very well priced , 10 out of 10 all day long !

Not just Dinosaurs; All life on Earth from Cambrian to Recent era's. Super high quality. Bought as Christmas present for a friends Dinosaur mad 7 year old, and he has been reading it every day since Christmas. The book is very heavy and thought it might be a bit unwieldy for a kid of 7 but I fitted some Book Corner Protectors which we also found on Amazon which make it look even better. The book is beautifully set out , and the price makes it an absolute bargain. Going to purchase 2 more ; one for another gift and one for ourselves. One of the best books on this subject we have seen. After all it has taken millions of years to compile it ! Well done DK and Amazon for super pricing and excellent delivery .

Covers a huge swath of information on prehistoric life from the earliest forms to the present day. Helpful timelines throughout, and full of digital illustrations and photos of fossils of the animals and plants and concise but detailed entries on each. The introductory section also oriented you to geological time, principles of evolution, fossilisation and so on. Highly recommend for anyone interested in prehistoric life - a great reference guide. The quality of book itself is also very high with a beautiful cover design.

Another comprehensive definitive visual guide by DK. The book is not only about dinosaurs, which is rather an advantage, as it gives a holistic picture of the prehistoric life. The illustrations are inhomogeneous, with some species being represented by art drawings and others by just skeletons or even parts of skeletons, and only a few by both.

The book is massive, both figuratively and literally (it is 2.5 kg). It spans all prehistoric periods from the first life on Earth to the appearance of humans and covers plants and animals alike. Dinosaurs are just one of the groups featured. I guess they were the rock stars of prehistory and that is why the book is called "Dinosaurs & Prehistoric Life" instead of just "Prehistoric Life", which would be a more fitting title.The only issue I have is the state in which the book was delivered - it is chipped a few centimetres from the top right corner (pictures attached). That's a shame for the damage spoils the otherwise great quality - not the best look for a coffee table book. Anyway, since I have been waiting for more than a month to get the book (the first time the order got lost), I would not bother returning it.

I bought this book for my 10 year olds birthday as he loved dinosaurs and fossils. It is probably more aimed for older kids or adults. There is a lot of detail and text but he really enjoys looking at it and it will be the sort of book which will be kept and looked at forever.

This is an amazing book. You can dip your toe at a fast trot or deep dive into in-depth information to amaze the most difficult to tame intellect! My great nephew is enthralled!!
