It has metal rod that goes the length of the top of the basket to keep from warping if you do decide to stack them and also to keep it from bending when you lift it by the top handle strap. How it is constructed and it is plastic wicker it does have a little give if you push on it, but the basket is sturdy. It is durable, if you use it for dogs clothes or toys and their bones it is easy to clean and holds a lot but anything that is wicker or wicker styled weave like this you do not want to over stuff it. But the medium does hold up to 5lbs which is a lot and the basket does not give and have not seen any warping. It is sturdy and Iam really happy with it. I do plan on purchasing another one, they are great and well made and I also love how it has a strap to close and seal the basket. It is really nice, it's cute, and it's great way to store any thing for your dog and keep organized and looks nice wherever you choose to place it.
