Review: Works great - Great way to clamp liters in crown moulding or door casing
Review: Wonderful and simple - I picked up a book on doing trim carpentry a couple of years ago so I could improve my results. In the book he recommend several techniques and tools. Spring miter clamps were recommended for glueing all of the door and window moldings before mounting them. What a marvelous difference. The spring spreader is a well made forged tool with comfortable handles. The spring wires are very strong but easily spread with the tool. The tips of the wires are cut on a diagonal so they are quite sharp on the leading edge so they penetrate even hardwood easily and thus stay in place, imperitive with miter work. I consider them one of my favorite tools along with my new skills picked up from Trim Made Simple from Gary Katz.

**Q: Would you recommend this product or Collin Clamps?**
A: I use my Collin Clamps for making miters on large case projects. The single downside is the clamps will leave a tiny mark on the wood. However, by the time I applied finish the mark was next to impossible to see. I recommend them.

**Q: Would this clamp be appropriate or exert enough force for a cabinet door of may 18" wide x 32" tall?**
A: No this clamp is mainly used for mitre corner on trim workWhat you need for a door that size is a pipe clamp.

The spring spreader is a well made forged tool with comfortable handles. The spring wires are very strong but easily spread with the tool. The tips of the wires are cut on a diagonal so they are quite sharp on the leading edge so they penetrate even hardwood easily and thus stay in place, imperitive with miter work. I consider them one of my favorite tools along with my new skills picked up from Trim Made Simple from Gary Katz.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ fills a gap

As a finish carpenter I pre-assemble everything I can. I use Collins pinch clamps for the majority of these assemblies but there are times when they don't exert enough pressure to close a short point in a twisted moulding. These clamps do. Much of my assembly is done from the back side so the hole left by the clamps are a non issue. These clamps do benefit from a bit of re-grinding. It took about 30 min. at the bench grinder to sharpen them to a flat bottomed sharp point. The advantage is that they grab better when the clamping angle is less than ideal as one finds on the back side of crown moulding and the holes left are much smaller and easier to touch up on the rare occasion that I use these on the front of an assembly. I give them 4 stars instead of 5 because of the regrind, but consider the purchase money well spent when I compare these to the Ulmia clamps at nearly 3x the price without a huge difference in function.
