It's razor sharp and it's easy to keep that way with the Reserve steel by Shun. The one thing I dislike is the fragility of the cutting edge. If you treat it with extreme care, it may last for a good amount of time, but mine is not a smooth edged blade anymore. It may be the steel, but am not sure where the knicks are coming from.
