I like Gorman's style, which I first discovered in Curvy Girls. She has a way of talking about things that are seen as flaws in women-- fatness, boundary setting-- and not only normalizing them, but making them part of the picture of what being a complex, real person is. Her books are not serious reads, but I'm not always looking for a serious read, and it's nice to see a more ethical treatment of flawed people in non-serious books. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for feminism and body positivity in books that aren't explicitly about those topics. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Not my favorite by Michele Gorman *by L***D on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 16, 2014* Perfect Girl wasn't perfect for me. Michele Gorman has a lighthearted style of writing chick lit which has been consistent in all of her novels. However, this one just didn't do it for me. Hard for me to relate to the main character who went above and beyond the call of duty and allowed herself to be sexually harassed day in and day out at her workplace. Also, the beginning of the book where she is being harangued by reporters saying "why did you do it?" is, I believe supposed to draw you in to wondering what a perfect girl could have possibly done wrong.........However, for me it just made me wonder why I had gone ahead and bought the book without reading the SAMPLE first. As I have enjoyed Ms. Gorman's other books, I will continue to explore her future novels. I just won't purchase one without checking it out first again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another enjoyable book by Gorman! *by M***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 25, 2016* I'll admit that the first part of this book was a bit difficult to read because Carole was such a pushover and I wanted to scream at people for having such high expectations of her and push her to stand up for herself. Once she did, however, I really enjoyed this book. It was very funny and the character development was terrific. I would have preferred a different outcome for her romantically though and curious whether anyone else agreed with me.
