The pickups sound good. The lower tension of the strings make bending super easy. The only thing i needed to adjust was the intonation, no big deal it's a 5 min job and the tools to do it are in the box. This bass is not just a great bass for the money, it's a great bass period. This bass is not just for kids and beginners I've been playing for 35 years and have many guitars and bases and this thing holds it's own. It has a little more bass frequencies than a regular size PJ Bass due to the shorter scale but it can also growl with the treble turned up. The Ibanez is well constructed but it is 'neck heavy' so you have to adjust your playing style to compensate. This has been a bit of a pain but it happens with some bass models.The item I received appeared to be new but there was quite a lot of scratching on the string guard even after I had removed the protective plastic.Overall, I am satisfied and have decided to keep the instrument from Musicman.
