The original motor had stopped turning the color wheel so the tree was stuck with one color. If you are replacing the motor for this or other applications, it’s important to order the correct motor. This particular model is a 12V AC motor NOT 12V DC. You can find out by looking carefully at the original motor. It is essential to order the correct one. Also, there are many different ones available so check the size, length of the shaft and the spacing of the mounting screw holes.Once you get the correct one, the install is quick and easy. It came with an easy-clip wire connector that makes quick work of wiring it up without the need for a soldering iron. This fixes my otherwise good fiber optic tree that should now last for several more years. The order came with two motors and two clips but was relatively inexpensive. I go ahead and install in a fiber optic train. It ran OK the first night though the light was dimmer than the others because of the extra power drain (4 watts). Started getting noisy the second evening, a ticking sound. Third evening the sound got loud enough to be really annoying and I shut it off.
