Most houses have a 24VAC transformer installed....especially if there is central Air/heating. This is because the control system and thermostat run on 24VAC. Usually, they run a set of wires off of this transformer to power the door-bell (Chime) system. The location of this transformer is usually placed near the Air/Heating system...if not installed inside the unit itself. If needed, you can run a set of wires off this transformer and route it to the front door. **Q: Is this necessary to install for a ring doorbell pro? This chime was listed as a “Compatible Chime” on the Ubiquiti G4 Doorbell Pro product page. After proper wiring (don’t forget the tiny Unifi Black Box), the chime functioned as expected. The item is very simple. There are no premium features, and no unique eye-catching design touches on the blank white plastic cover. The bell rings and the box becomes unobtrusive and invisible over time. I found no difference in the volume of the chime over the late 1980s chime the NEWHOUSE chime replaced. I wish the manufacturer placed the logo on one of the sides of the item instead of the horizontal bottom right position.
