Have to leave the sd card in it or it won't keep the correct date and time. Will have to take something to download the card without taking it out of the camera.Haven't tried it in the mountains. But have used it around the house to test it.Don't like the on, off mode. Yup it's either on or off. No set up. Tie to tree, turn on and leave it.Can't set for certain number of pictures. Nor can you turn off the video function. When it triggers, it takes a 3 shot burst and a 10 second video.I put it out last week. When we retrieved our camera we were amazed to see an amazingly clear little time-lapse of the wind blowing the trees behind our house around, a butterfly flitting by, and there were some pictures of a raccoon jumping over our neighbor's fence at night. I am very impressed with the camera and am extremely pleased with our purchase.
