## Description

These Brass alloy models sound and look great, and let you get into playing Meinl at very realistic prices. The HCS series from Meinl cymbals is designed to offer all of the cymbal types and sizes normally found in professional lines to beginners, in order to deliver the same sound options a working drummer may look for. The HCS 14" Crash provides a warm crash sound with a shorter sustain that is perfect for quick crash accents. Bigger than a splash, but not quite as heavy as the larger models, The 14" Size is the perfect middle ground to blend colorful cymbal accents into your playing. Meinl HCS cymbals are recommended for any style of music a beginner may be getting into while exploring their sound.

Review: Nice Entry Level Cymbal - When it comes to buying cymbals, you truly do get what you pay for. That being said, I cannot find any fault in this entry level fast crash. I have it set as my splash crash in between a set of Sabian AAX 14 inch and 16 inch crashes. By itself, the sound is not very impressive, but when played along with a sonically similar cymbal, it sounds great! I am going to add a few more of this series at different sizes just to see what sonic combinations I can come up with! A great buy for the price!
Review: Nice looking and sounding cymbal for a great value. - First impression: This cymbal looks nice; a very bright finish, looks well made. Upon playing, something feels a bit different from the cymbal I replaced, which was a Zildjian ZBT. I feel like it is fair to compare these two cymbals, because HCS is Meinl's entry level cymbal and ZBT is Zildjian's entry level. They have a similar sound, but the HCS seems thicker and heavier. This may turn out to be a good thing, but right off the bat it is a little off putting. It just kind of threw me off. Overall, I'm happy so far. I'll update this review once I've played on it a bit more. UPDATE: After playing on this for just one week, I had to change my review from "like it," to "love it." The cymbal sounds great, and the uncertainties I had about it quickly faded away as I played it. Great cymbal, especially for the price!

## Features

- MAJOR UPGRADE FROM "STOCK" STARTER CYMBALS: these are not those distractingly cheap, flimsy prop cymbals that come with most drum sets; Meinl HCS cymbals have impressive sound and sturdy feel geared toward beginner/intermediate players
- WHY IT MATTERS: playing HCS cymbals will sound more like what you hear in actual songs, making the drums even more fun to play; plus, they aren't going to fall apart, dent, or bend after a few uses like stock cymbals
- WHAT'S IN THE BOX: includes one 14" crash cymbal; this crash cuts through music with a clear attack and balanced sustain that doesn't linger too long; it delivers exceptional punch to accent the beat, and it blends with all other HCS crash sizes
- DRIVING THE SOUND: made in Germany with MS63 brass alloy for a clean, bright, and crisp tone; substantial thickness with well-formed surface grooves and hammer marks give you a defined sound without clangy or ear-piercing overtones
- CATCH UP QUICK: HCS exceeds expectations because Meinl brings experience crafting cymbals since 1951; we make HCS and other lines in our German factory, and our top-of-the-line professional Byzance cymbals are hand hammered in Turkey from cast B20 bronze
- ZOOM IN: the surface shimmers and shines under light, which is a bonus if you like your kit to look beautiful; HCS cymbals also feature the same logo treatment as our professional lines, including a small laser engraved logo and serial number
- OF NOTE: you can find any sound in the seemingly never-ending selection of cymbal types in the HCS line; all essentials in multiple sizes are covered along with effects cymbals that let you expand your sound with variety
- THE BOTTOM LINE: this is a German made, top-quality entry level cymbal that resembles more high-end models with its crisp, bright tone and musical feel; it has a long lifespan, even for hard hitters, and fits any musical style

A: Crappy cymbals sounds like gongs

**Q: Why the significative difference between the shipping weight and the item weight?. Is this correct?**
A: Not sure- it is a heavy solid cymbal though and comes in a rather thick box- I am assuming you are not a Prime member because with Prime shipping is 2 day free - but I can tell you this is a GREAT ride cymbal- not much of a crash at all, but a solid weighted ping for a ride-- nice!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cheap price, decent sound. 8/10 would bang again
*by C***A on November 9, 2014*

A lot of the reviews for this are divided. "Oh, it sounds great," and "sounds like a s***ty gong" come to mind. I bought it anyways. It is definitely a cheap buy, and still looks like an amazing cymbal. As for sound, it does sound pretty crappy. But it's still a great buy for beginner drummers, or drummer who just like to jam out in their basements/garage. Once you start to get a gig or two, you should consider going with a better cymbal UPDATE: I've had the cymbal for about 1.5 years, and it's cracked to the point where I can't play it anymore. It's MOST likely because of the way I've been hitting it, and NOT because of crappy manufacturing. As I look at my old review I think I was a bit critical. I've grown to love the bright sound of this cymbal, and will probably buy another one
