It gets hot immediately and the led light flashes red when its ready(in a matter of seconds) if you drop the temperature down in the dial, the led light will flash green because its cooling off. Then it will turn red again at that setting. I always use It on the 260Β° because Its better for the hair but you will take alot longer to do your hair.
