Charlie is a skillfully drawn character and his story is captivating. The author has created an intriguing time travel romance that engages the reader. She uses mystery and emotional threads in her telling of what really is a beautiful story with plenty of suspense: “When I snooped, I found only locked doors and empty files. My parents kept a secret from me my entire life. And it was finally time to find out the truth.”I like how the author creates tension even when explaining the issues with time travel: “It was at that point the real dangers became apparent, especially with regard to making changes in the past. As more and more people were traveling back to relive wonderful moments in their lives, some of those infinitesimally small changes began to affect not only the traveler’s life , but also the lives of innocent bystanders.”As Brooke helps Charlie to find what he is looking for, their own love story makes an excellent parallel to his father’s life. The questions presented to the protagonist make this one of those stirring books that stay with you, that makes you think. Themes of love and trust run deep in this story. I highly recommend this book and the whole series. Well done. At the deepest core of their being, they both know that they are meant to share a life together. However, upon the unexpected death of his father in a climbing accident, Charlie doesn't feel the pain of his loss. Throughout his life, Charlie has experienced an inexplicable void. When Charlie steps into his father's office after his funeral service, he finds more than he bargained for....the police have returned his father's climbing equipment. The knots on the rope....they just aren't quite right. Then Charlie discovers a picture of a young woman in his desk draw. Who is she? What does she have to do with his father? Why would he have her picture? So many questions...so few answers.When Charlie confronts his mother, he discovers more about himself but not enough to satisfy his desire to get to the bottom of his past. This one has all your favorite characters, but this time it is Charlie's life that is turns upside down and Charlie that is looking for answers only he can find in the past. But when Brook is adamant about him not using his trip, she has to finally break down and tell Charlie why he can't use his trip to get the answers he so desperately wants.But when he decides he is going to do it any ways they find away for Brooke's past self to help him find his answers, but will that come with even more consequences?This was another killer book, it will suck you in and won't let you go. The action and suspense just holds you. I had the audiobook and the narrator Simon Lee Phillips really made this book.
