Super efficient. Works with most speakers 4-16 ohm. - I'm using this to replace my desktop speakers with some Klipsch RSX-5 speakers. The speakers are rated for 75 watts so I wasn't entirely sure this would power them sufficiently. It was actually plenty, with good speakers, this can fill a room with a good level of loudness. I was worried about the power draw so I dug up my watt meter and saw it was only using 2.6 watts!!!!!! Review: Awesome little amplifier. - Replaced an old DROK Micro Stereo Amplifier that I bought in 2017 that set in my garage and used hard and finally gave out. Used this as soon as I received it with in hour after being place on my doorstep. I resumed my old 12v 2 amp plug and a set of 6ohm Techicns book shelf speakers. It preformed without a hitch in our Texas 90 degree heat with no air flow on it for three days straight. It got warm to the touch but nothing to concerning and I was jamming it pretty loud. I do like the fact that I can adjust the bass and highs, and has great sound. I’m a huge SQ guy and this gets my approval. Hopefully I get 8 years out of it. May purchase their 2.1 later down the road but first need to upgrade my outdoor speakers. But at 12v and 2 amps it seems it should be more around 24-36 watts, and back says "100 watts". Thoughts?** A: The specs rate this amp at 18w per channel into 4 ohm speakers using a 12v 2amp power supply. They don't say if that is RMS or peak power. Forget AxV=W, even the led bulbs burn power. I'd expect 10-15w into some inexpensive speakers that aren't pushed to hard. **Q: Can I use it as a preamplifier? I was thinking to connect the output to a poweramplifer step after this one.** A: No, the outputs are already amplified. They would blow the inputs to your Poweramp...if the inputs are rca connector and standard audio output.Guess I would ask why you would want to do this... Although some power amps do allow stereo output for input.... You would have to check the spec on your power amp to see if it allows amplified inputs.... They will usually be speaker terminal inputs for speaker wire. While this amp is nice, one should not expect it to shake your auto! **Q: What size plug does this use and what is the polarity? Really enjoying this amp and worth the 12 bucks. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great little amp with one annoying feature (that can be easily fixed) *by M***S on November 29, 2018* This is a great little amplifier for under $10, and it works very well except for one minor annoyance that's easily fixed. I have a Kindle Fire hooked to some small speakers (through the headphone jack), and I use it to play rain sounds at night when I go to sleep. The problem is that even at full volume the output of the Kindle just isn't loud enough to hear the rain sounds very well. This little amplifier solved that problem- it's got more than enough power to play the sound as loud as I want. It's easy to hook up and works like a charm to boost the sound. THE ANNOYING FEATURE Several people have mentioned in their reviews that the amp contains a very bright LED behind the volume control, and when the amp is on it cycles through various colors. It's so bright that it would light up part of my room and the changing of the colors was also extremely annoying. If you're experiencing this problem (as others have mentioned in their reviews), there's an easy fix that you can do in about 5 minutes: 1) Unplug ALL the wires and connectors from the amp. 2) Pull the volume knob off (it just pulls straight off, no tools required). 3) Behind the volume knob is a clear plastic piece that's attached to the shaft of the volume control with a small flat nut. With a pair of pliers, gently unscrew and remove the nut. 4) Gently pull the clear plastic piece off. Behind it is the LED that is soooo annoying. 5) Take the clear plastic piece and spray paint the back side of it with some paint. Almost any color will do as long as it's not transparent. Give it a couple of good coats of paint and let it dry. 6) After it's dried, put the plastic piece back in, screw the nut back on, and press the volume control back on the shaft. That's it- problem solved. No more annoying light. :) (Alternatively you could follow the steps to #4 and then paint the LED with some nail polish or dark paint.) I hope this fix helps others.
