Our chronographs shrug off common environmental conditions that bedevil other products, such as too much/little sun, fluorescent lights, nearby shooters' muzzle blasts, high winds or many other unpredictable variables. Using the provided spacers, the shooter adjusts the bayonet so that the bullet will travel just above unit’s sensors. Each sensor produces a voltage that is proportional to the change in its magnetic field. Want the most accurate reading available on the retail market for less than thousands of dollars. If both apply then it is even a better deal. It is expensive but I couldn’t spend money on what looked like a much inferior product. Received my magneto on Monday and took it out today. The unit powers up once it is connected up correctly. There is no on and off switch. I started out and the first shot it read and looked good. Fired four more shots and looked at readout and I only had the first reading. Looking at the magneto it was obvious I didn’t have it strapped on hard enough. I readjusted it and continued to shoot the second string. No problems. Third string it was loose again. I reevaluated my setup and continued on for the rest of the shooting time with no problems. I like the function of the device. It is very intuitive to use if you have used a electronic device in your daily life. I’m 60 and it was very easy to use. The display is great and just amazing to see results, the averages, and standard deviation. It was easy to store results with the archive function. I have personally run it on a .223 with a varmint profile, both suppressed and unsuppressed and found no impact shift with this barrel in either configuration. I have also run it on several sporter profile barrels including 7mmRSAUM, 300 RSAUM, 300 RUM, and 30-06. With these rifles I have found the impact shift to be so minor that I was still able to mark under 1MOA, 3 shot, 100yrd groups with all but the 300 RUM, with that rifle the best I could shoot was just at 1MOA. I reconfirmed shots again without the bayonet on all rifles tested and found the position of the hits moved a little but the size of the groups were still about the same as with the bayonet. All of the rifles I've tested have been completely free floated and were shot using a bipod and rear bag during testing. The V3 bayonet only weighs 7.8oz with the all of the spacers needed for use on a sporter barrel so I don't think you should see enough change in impact to warrant not buying one. **Q: Will this chrono hold up to heavy recoil rifles? (458 socom, 50 beowulf, 50 lott, 50 bmg, etc)** A: Used it with a .338 Lapua Mag. **Q: When recording shot strings, can you return to a saved string and add shots to it after moving to a difftent string?** A: I am pretty sure that once you have archived a shot string, you can't save additional shots to that string. However on the V3 you can open the archived data in a spreadsheet and manipulate the data there - for example merge two shot strings to determine the Extreme Spread and Standard Deviation. **Q: I know the 1/4" bar is supplied so the projectile doesn't hit the arm, but how far away from the bore line will it read accurate velocities?** A: I have used it as far out on the barrel as I could position it with fine accuracy. That is about 4 or 5 inches. The reason I positioned it that far from the muzzle was because a huge muzzle brake on a 338 Lapua Mag. it wasn't possible to mount it any closer. This thing is awesome. You only need the instructions to make sure you put it on right, otherwise it is plug, play, and shoot. I have a suppressor on my .308 and it was a cinch to assemble and get muzzle velocity in minutes. The only thing I was careful about was removing it every ten shots or so to keep it from getting too hot. Lab radar is amazing for what it is but the three times I have used buddies or seen it used in a professional training setting, both the instructor and my buddies had to google instructions on how to set it up and use it.
