Review: My Favorite Wax - I love this creme wax. I have been painting a lot of furniture recently with chalk paint and to finish and protect the paint, it is recommended that you give the furniture a coat or 2 of wax. I tried the very expensive Annie Sloan wax. I thought it was very thick and hard to work with. After applying it, it never seemed to dry and the surface still feels a little tacky even after 3 months. There was no change to the look or sheen of the AS wax even after buffing. I originally saw the Americana Decor creme wax in the Home Depot (I believe the Home Depot has since discontinued it...so I now buy it from desertcart). I thought I would buy it and give it a try. This creme wax is more like a thick paint. It goes on smoothly and evenly with a paint brush, dries very quickly and thoroughly (It doesn't feel tacky in anyway). Clean up is easy with hot water and soap. It give the furniture a nice low gloss sheen and if you would like a more shinier finish, it buffs up very nicely. I found the best and easiest way to buff the wax finish is with the brush attachment for your drill. It is sold on desertcart and saves you from having to do all the buffing by hand. 1 X Wax Buffing Brush - Drill I can't yet say how well it protects the surface since it has only been a few months but so far the furniture has held up well...no scratches or nicks. So I am very happy. This is the only wax that I will use from now on for my chalk paint projects.
Review: first-time chalk painter- great success with creme wax. - Used this creme wax as my wax for Rustoleum Chalked paint. This was my first attempt at chalk painting furniture and it turned out excellent. The wax went on super easy- it really is about the consistency of hand lotion. I used a round wax brush to apply, wiped off the excess, and let it dry for a minute or two before buffing. It added a beautiful sheen and feel to the dresser I refinished. I have never used any other wax product, so I don't know how it compares, but as a first-timer I found it super easy to use and it gave me the results I was hoping for. Very pleased with purchase. I used about 1/3 to 1/2 of the container for an 8-drawer large dresser.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Slight learning curve, but good finish!
*by L***E on September 11, 2015*

I recently discovered chalk paint and wanted to try it out. I researched it online and read a lot about Annie Sloan paint and wax, but could not find it for sale anywhere. I decided to try out this brand of wax instead. I painted an oak table and set of four chairs with homemade chalk paint, latex paint + calcium carbonate powder, a teal/green for the chairs and white for the table base. I did not use a primer. I used two coats of chalk paint, slightly distressed the paint with sandpaper, and then applied the wax. When it was all done with, I think it turned out quite well. You can apply the wax with a brush or a rag. It is very thin and goes on like paint, almost. At first I applied it with a round brush and I wondered if I was getting it on too thick, so next I tried a rag. While it seemed easier to apply to the round spindles with a rag, it also seemed to soften the paint up to the point where if you rubbed too hard or nicked it with your fingernail, it would peel or scratch off. When this happened, I just left the spot, then after it had dried, would come back and sand it down a little to smooth out any rough edges and brush on a little more wax to that spot. Luckily I was going for the distressed look, or this would have been a big bummer. I decided it's better to brush it on, but you have to be careful not to get it too thick or have any drips or it will dry and look yellow. I noticed on the white paint especially, after I added the wax, it almost seemed to cause some yellow to come through (but that could be because I didn't use a primer). I ended up getting some dark wax to try to hide the yellow, but I really didn't like the dark wax (made it look just dirty, I thought). Luckily you can use the clear wax to 'erase' the dark wax, or most of it anyway. We've been using the table and chairs for a couple weeks now and they seem to be holding up well. I just wipe everything down with a damp rag to clean and that's caused no problems. I did see this for sale at Home Depot a couple of days after I ordered it for about $3 less expensive than I paid. I used about one whole 8-oz jar on my table and chair project.
