It was one of the most creative, imaginative, intriguing, exciting and moving book series I've ever read, and I read a lot. I simply couldn't put the books down, literally. I was reading anywhere I could. I completed the 5 books in this series in less than two weeks. Here are some of the reasons I enjoyed the series:- The story is really exciting, and it's very original. I've never read anything quite like it.- It's got depth. Without being preachy in any way, it subtly teaches positive values like faithfulness, forgiveness, the value of life, trust, using wisdom...- It's full of intense edge of your seat action.- The characters are so fully developed and deep that you feel you know them. I was actually sad when the series ended.- It's full of fantasy elements, but it makes it seem absolutely possible and realistic.- In a totally interesting and captivating way, it weaves in things like science, geography, world religious history.- The writing is just fantastic - it leads you to vividly live this story in your imagination.It's definitely at least as good a read as the Hunger Games series by the way.It does have a lot of violence and battle, and the main character is kidnapped as a child. So if you're choosing for your child, this is something to consider.I would personally say that it's good for young teens and up.
