And it has a built in clock/weather widget onscreen! Here are the many great features of this device:1. Large 4.2" EASY TO READ and VERY VIVID SCREEN2. WiFi works great and easy to setup at home and in hot spot places.3. Touchscreen fast and ultra responsive.4. Clarity of screen -this screen is VERY bright and sharp.5. Internet browser is easy to zoom into, just press your finger down to enlarge the screen - I give a PLUS ONE STAR!(I use Dolphin MINI which I downloaded from Android Player Market) I use Dolphin Mini because it is very easy on the battery and when you close it - it really closes! And so fast too!6. No data plan needed! I use home WiFi and local WiFi hotspots for Internet browsing) saves me money.7. Accepts up to 32gb SD Card - I give a PLUS ONE STAR! (There are some that install a 64 SanDisk SD Micro card and way it works, this 64 SD card must be formatted in the device BEFORE you copy files on it).8. Takes some time to charge (but charges much faster than the older Galaxy 5 player).2. Camera/Video Camera: Don't throw away your "real" camera. This camera takes OK to GOOD quality pictures, which are fine to email someone or put on your phone. However, for great quality pictures, be sure to bring you "real" camera with you. This camera is wonderful to use if you just need a quick picture here and there! So I give a MINUS ONE STAR for this.I installed Google Voice App and GroOve app on it and when the WiFi is on, it will make phone calls. I had to tweak the speaker settings, but now it works fine.Questions, comments? Just ask in the comments and I will answer all! ### ⭐⭐⭐ You can do a LOT better than this. *by J***N on April 22, 2013* Let me start off by stating that I have had this device for quite some time (August 2012) and that I have used this device every day.So...the Samsung Galaxy Player...I expected quite a bit more from a company that leads the Android phone armada with their Galaxy phones...and now I realize that I expected far too much and got burned by this "thing". For one, it works for about 2 months before everything hits the metaphorical fan...by that I mean that the wi-fi chip starts to die and half the time will not recognize a known network for up to half an hour so all you can do is flick the wi-fi on and off until it finally picks up the signal.Processor: The device has a 1 GHz single-core processor...which means everything will start bottle-necking the minute you even consider trying to multi-task let's say...SoundCloud and Facebook...you play a song on SoundCloud and run over to the Facebook app real quick to check something and the device will slow to a crawl (and heats up quite a bit in the process due to high processing demand due to the single core) and on most occasions the device will just give up and freeze to the point where nothing works and it continues to heat up since it is still trying to process what you wanted to do so your only options will either be to remove the battery (which is an option on this device since their battery IS remove-able) OR you can reset the device with Android's reset feature by holding the volume up and power buttons...and if I were you I would choose the latter of the two options since you will be doing that quite often and the battery would become annoying after a little while.RAM: The Galaxy Media Player has a disturbingly low amount of RAM (the device SAYS 486 MB of RAM but only about 200-260 of that is use-able) they put into the device which forces you to restrict what you can leave on your home-screen on the device. Anything more than 1 widget and the RAM will start bottle-necking if you try to launch apps and you can forget about live wallpapers since those will make the problem even worse.Camera: The Cameras on the device are so-so. They aren't bad...but they are not great either. Any camera from 2004 or newer would do either just as good if not better than this since the device only has 2 Mega Pixels to work with and the front facing camera is nothing to be excited about but they get a pass there since no front-facing camera on any device has ever been great.What do I like?: So far...the only features I have truly fallen in love with on the device are the GPS function which does in fact work, quite well actually, in fact the only problem I see is that you need an internet connection to start any GPS enabled journey on the device and I am fine with that given the device cannot connect to cell towers to retrieve data. I also found that the music player is quite good...I actually prefer it to the iPod music player and that is saying something. It sounds quite a bit fuller and I love toying with the equalizer that is stock on the device which was definitely a plus. I am also a big fan of the dual front-facing speakers. Even when cranked all the way (I should probably mention that the speakers are QUITE loud)...only a tiny bit of distortion occurs it is hardly even noticeable.Summary: All in all, the device is GREAT for music...and that is about it. Anything else and you risk freezing the device completely or wind up having an extremely slow app that you might as well just hop on your computer to do what ever networking or other deed you wanted to do.
