So, at the CEO's request in the aforementioned email, we kindly expressed our findings about his product. He was quick to apologize, and promptly sent out an identical new (unscratched) tie clip, and urged us not to worry about sending back the old one. The second one was complementary, her said. It would have been, too, had the gold one not been scratched on arrival, and the black one not had manufacturing defects. There were lumps in the lacquer on the black one, so obviously that one couldn't be worn in public.
