To me, it works fine and looks fine (both my stove and counter are very dark so it blends). As someone else noted, you can still wedge it in but it will be at an angle. It seems a half inch would be about the limit, though it will be at an angle. A full inch difference in height would definitely be too much. The vertical part of the t (which slips in the crack) is only 3/4 inch. **Q: how do I select color? The option is not available.** A: Each color is listed separately - just click on the color you want and continue **Q: Is there a right hand piece and a left hand piece? Mine are exactly the same.** A: There is not a right hand and left hand piece. Both pieces are the same. **Q: My gas stove and kitchen counter are not at the same level. The stove is 0.5 inch tall than the counter. Will this still work?** A: That might not work. Mine is a little less than that, about 1/4" and it works fine, but not sure for almost 1/2", that sounds like it might be a little too much height. I'm sure if you try it though and it doesn't work out, you can send it back.
