I should have guessed what the content of the book would be when I saw who the author was, but this book is far from what one expects from a book entitled 'Solitary Seance'.  The first twenty-four pages talk about Spiritualism and communing with the deceased, but the rest of the book explains different methods of divination.  It's apparent pretty quickly that these are just copied and pasted from his other books on divination but with 'Spirit' exchanged for 'God/Goddess'.  Even the white light cleansing ritual is straight out of his older works.  That's not to say that this is necessarily a bad book as it is an excellent introduction to divination.  It's just that it doesn't really stick to the topic mentioned in the title.

A fun little book that gives just enough information on any one (of many) ways to connect with the spirit world.  There are 18 techniques or methods covered in the book.  My suggestion is to try one and if it works for you, buy more books on that particular method.  I recommend this book for the complete newbie...advanced mediums will find this book tedious and boring.  Buying a used copy is probably a wise investment if you are curious about this book, full price was a little much.  Either way, I am happy that I read it....

I bought this as a companion to the larger Book of Spirit Communications by the same author.  Pretty much all the information in this book is covered in Spirit Communications, almost down to the exact same sentences.  I don't regret my purchase because it looks cool on the book shelf but I feel the book is redundant.
