I use the "add-a-fuse" install method (which requires purchasing additional wiring and fuses - links below) and wired into the fuse box in the cabin so that the lights would come on whenever the car is on. Other installation techniques give you the option of having the lights off during vehicle operation, if you so chose. Be sure to choose which slots you want them in and proper orientation as they only fit nicely one way. I chose to tap off of the daytime running light wiring under the hood.
