Q: Would someone tell me the actual diameter of the pot itself minus the handle? Thanks.

This pot, is aprox. 8 1/2 inches across the top.It VERY gently slopes down, to aprox 6 1/2 : across the bottom. It is 5 inches deep. (But SEEMS deeper) ;)The handle is 7" longThe LID has two pouring spouts, to drain. One larger than the other.Sides are lightweight , bottom is heavy and reinforced.I had some Red Chili stick to the bottom once, because I almost forgot it on the stove. Got too hot.I love to boil chicken breasts in it; holds two VERY large bone-in breast halves.Perfect for Rice.Best of luck. It's a keeper!PS: My quick measurements were a bit off from others, but close. ;)

I do have problems gripping thin handles like this one, and I do want to get this beautiful pot, so here's how I manage thin handles like this one. I add a silicone hot handle sleeve, not for heat protection, but to improve my loose swollen knuckle gripping power. No, a magnet does not stick to the bottom.

Hi Tatsin13, Cuisinart's home base is in Windsor, NJ and all anything that needs service is there. Like everything, they are made in China. Hope this helps.
