It looked authentic, felt great in my hand, and with a little practice, allowed me to write beautifully, too! I got a lot of fantastic comments about the pen that night. The ink did creep up over the silver and stained my fingers with ink, but as I have used many calligraphy pens in the past, I was prepared for that. I am 100% satisfied. **Q: How do you write with the pen? Is there like a certain way you have to dip it or? Because it’s not working for me**
A: Dip it in to the slot in the widest part of the tip.  If that doesn’t work, some people use a lighter and burn the tip a little to get resin residue off...some even use a bit of fine grit sandpaper

**Q: What kind of feather is this?  We’re any birds harmed in the making of this quill?**
A: I believe it it is a fake feather but am not 100%

**Q: The base for this looks like it's fixed straight up, is this angled or straight?**
A: I think it angled. I gave it as a gift

Gorgeous, just the right heft, a lovely variety of nibs... this pen was the perfect final touch for my book signing! It looked authentic, felt great in my hand, and with a little practice, allowed me to write beautifully, too! I got a lot of fantastic comments about the pen that night. I got this for my 9 yr old son as a 4th grade graduation gift. Well with in my budget and so happy with it. He loved it! It is beautiful and easy to use. I was supper impressed with the quality and how well it worked. Hes been writing letters to his friends and having a blast. Truly stunning and he thinks it looks like something from Harry Poter, so bonus!
