And it will take off some metal and actually sharpen the knife, unlike a true steel. But I do not know the grit.F. Dick doesn't offer that info. Compared to my other diamond rods, it feels more aggressive than a 1200 grit, but not overly so. A medium, if you will. **Q: Which steel is more abrasive the titan or the diamond? which one is more durable? which one will you recommend?** A: I don't know the titan. I use a F. Dick Sapphire for my using every day. If I need a bit of "real" sharpening, I use a white ceramic rod. If I really need to sharpen a knife that is a very dull knife, then I use the diamond rod. The diamond steel is good for some minor sharpening, whereas the steel will help keep your knives sharper by aligning the cutting edge, not by removing material.
