ThermoRise Insulation Boards Thickness - 30mm Size per board - 1000mm x 600mm Size per pack - 3.6m2 (6pieces) These XPS Boards are made using extruded polystyrene insulation which is a 100% closed cell. The cell structure is tightly constructed which gives it its excellent thermal heating characteristics. Used for electric underfloor heating boards or simply thermal insulation boards to keep the heat in your room. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: I need to ask the manufacturer whether these boards shrink in any dimension? I can't find the manufacturer via Google search, can anyone help? Thanks.**
A: No significant shrinkage at temperatures up to 30 degC. I've used it for underfloor heating and not gone above that temperature. Instructions I've had are to use XPS with floor sensor limit set at 50 degC. When laying the sheets I've put them under compression so they are tight, just a few mm oversize. You will know if they are too tight, they will be difficult to fit and won't lay flat.

**Q: Are these actually pink, as shown in the images? I need to be sure of the colour.**
A: Yes, the ones I received were exactly as the picture.

**Q: Are they fire retardant?**
A: XPS boards are combustible. 
I do not have the data for this specific product. 
Foamed plastic products may have fire-retardant additives at a significant cost, so unlikely to be the case in lowest price options.
XPS boards generally conform to BS EN 13501-1 : 2007, fire classification Class F where classes A-F ate in ascending order of combustibility. Class F is the lowest performance level (no performance determined). Care needs to be taken if using these products for any application other than floor insulation on a non-combustible substrate (e.g. concrete) as exposure to fire may cause flaming droplets.

**Q: Is this product suitable for putting on slightly uneven patio as a base for a hot tub?**
A: I would have thought so. Depends on how much unevenness you are trying to take up. I presume you are doing this because you also want the insulation. This is high density, relatively hard foam. It will deform under compression, for example if you walk on it in shoes, or kneel on it, there will be marks or shallow depressions. If the variations in the patio are mote than a few mm  (say over 5mm) you might be better off using a layer of expanded polystyrene, I think, or some other compressible medium density foam.
