Most ( all) of the USA glass manufacturers who made cookware out of Borosilicate glass have closed . I spoke to one manufacturer who does Borosilicate light fixtures and even if they could make the Cuchina Safe Lids ( at 4 times cost ) they would not be able to drill the holes for the venting. They looked at the Cover n Cook plate cover and said they no longer have the machines do do a piece like that. So I still hold out hope that someone will start to manufacture Borosilicate cookware again in the USA and if you ever find someone, let me know! **Q: Do I need to put a teaspoon of water on the plate when microwaving?** A: Mattew, The short answer is no, if you are reheating food or cooking something, there should be enough moisture in the food to cause the steam to efficiently cook /heat your food. If you are steaming veggies, like asparagus, corn or Brussel sprouts, then add about 2 tablespoons or more of water to the plate. you can see my STEAMED VEGETABLES IN THE MICROWAVE video on my youtube channel. When cooking baked potatoes or sweet potatoes , I put 2 on the plate, cover with the Cover N Cook and cook on high for 10 minutes, no water needed, for a perfect potatoes!! https://youtu.be/ssl7m60UpwM **Q: Will this cover completely cover a 10 1/4" ceramic plate? ...either just inside the plate's rim or completely over the plate's rim.** A: Yes, probably on that size it would fit inside the rim. Most plates are not flat, they are concave,so the cover n cook fits nicely on many sizes of plates and shallow bowls. The inner diameter of the cover is 9 3/4". You will really like this product! **Q: Could you provide more detailed sizing of the 8" and 9" covers? For instance, would this work on a 6.25" bowl, or would the lip be misplaced?** A: Yes , both sizes of the lids would fit on a 6.25 bowl . You can use either side of the lid .
