Review: Far better than an "average" sponge - Update, September 8, 2019: It has been a few months and I'm still using my first three sponges (rotating them in and out of the weekly clothes wash. They are really great for the fact that they'll clean really well, and then rinse out almost everything they just cleaned (not like original sponges that always seem to look dirty. The pictures here are after I cleaned the inside of my oven after a burned on spill and how it looks after I washed it with my regular dishwashing soap (Palmolive). There's a tiny bit of a stain left but it comes out in the washing machine. It also cleans up the same after cleaning up blueberry or cherry pie filling. Original review: I REALLY (really) like these If You Care "sponges". They're more like they say, a cloth.... or like a washcloth, but much much better... enter the sponge part of it. They are very absorbant and hold more water than an average sponge (this sponge cloth=1/3 cup, average sponge=1/4 cup). I have never liked the feel of a wash "rag" either, so I wasn't sure how this would go. Well, the cleaning ability I was given was better than before. Because they have a much larger total surface area than an average household sponge, these cloths make doing dishes a lot quicker and easier (these measure 8x6.75 inches or 20x17cm and are about 54sq inch/340sq cm. The area of an average sponge is around 14.25sq inch/90sq cm-with a measurement of 4.75x3in/12x7.5cm. Basically, they're almost 4x's the size). I noticed this especially when washing glasses, because it pretty much encased the entire glass, both the interior and exterior. Then moving on to the plates, etc got easier even so. By far, the BEST PART (next to them being 100% natural and compostable) of these sponges is that they RINSE CLEAN SUPER EASILY!! I cannot stand picking up a dank, sour smelling sponge because a small bit of soap was left in it....icky! If this one is full of a large squirt of soap, I only need to wring it three, maybe four times and ABSOLUTELY ALL of the soap comes out. That alone will save water too.... total win/win/win so far! The package states that each cloth replaces 15 rolls of paper towels and can be machine washed up to 300 times. I haven't gotten that far yet, but definitely will update here as my first one wears down. Lastly, I always read reviews to learn from others how they like or dislike a product, and I love to help people myself (I was a nurse). I am also not compensated for my honesty. If my review has proven to be valuable to you please click so below. It helps me to know if I should keep on doing what I'm doing. Thanks everybody... and definitely get yourself some of these! This is one product that is a great buy on desertcart. *I almost forgot--- the plastic bag these come in can be recycled too. Add it to the other plastic bags whenever you take them in. If you google/search it, you'll find there are many items that can be added to the recycled grocery bags, even if you use your own (ie: the plastic used to mold different products to cardboard,so they can be displayed). Everything needs to be clean and dry though! You can also search/google for places, if needed
Review: I LOVE these and so does my brat dog - These are freakin awesome! I still use papertowels when I need to absorb grease from food. But I use these cloths for everything else I would nornally have used for cleaning. The packaging indicates that the cloth and packaging itself are both compostable. It is a product of Germany so rest assured, it is NOT manufactured in China. I like to use these around the sink and line them in areas where there is a lot of water drippage, like under the faucet knob. Some of the cloths might have white streaks in them but it doesn't affect the absorbency at all. Its just the way the fibers were mixed during production. I've washed mine multiple times in the washer and they hold up well. The packaging does indicate that you should not put them in the dryer. I accidentally threw them in the dryer the 2nd time I washed them and they ended up shrinking. But even though they shrank, they were still useable and still absorbed liquid just fine. They are very absorbent and strong so they're a perfect replacement for papertowels for use on cleaning duties like scrubbing the stovetop or microwave (I use dishsoap and water). They don't disintegrate like a papertowel would, they don't leave behind bits of paper or lint, they dry quickly (but not flat) when you wring them out completely, they're much easier to wring out than a dishtowel, they rinse out any debris extremely easily, they're larger than the more expensive printed styles which brings me to my last point which is that they're cheap! At close to just 1 dollar and some change, they are significantly less expensive than the designer cute printed cloths advertised as Swedish Dish Clothes. I was gifted one a few yrs ago with a lovely gnome design on it. I didn't actually start using until recently and noticed that it was much smaller than the If You Care brand. The function is the same but seriously, there's no point in paying more for a cleaning cloth when you can get it cheaper. Plus, if you have a dog like mine, you might be replacing them every so often. My dog has nabbed two clothes so far because she's a brat and think its OK to use them as chew toys LOL I ordered 4 packs two months ago and I just ordered 3 more packs today since I like having a giant pile before I do kitchen laundry.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: If anyone has also used Skoy Cloths, how would you compare these? Thanks.**
A: The sponge cloths made of 70 % cellulose and 30 % cotton are all made in one of two factories; Wettex in Norrköping, Sweden or in Germany by a company called Kalle. This type of sponge cloth was invented and patented by the Swedish Engineer Curt Lindquist in 1949 and his formula is used in both factories. The Wettex rags, which is the original and is still being produced in Sweden have a striped pattern and the Kalle rags, produced in Germany, have diamond patterns. Both the Skoy cloth and this sponge cloth are made at Kalle in Germany in the same factory. Other than the printed pattern and packaging, they are made at the same plant, so one should not be much different than the other.

**Q: How large are they?**
A: 6.3 X 8 inches. They are really good, strong and last long.

**Q: Where are these manufactured?**
A: It says on back of package “Product of Germany.” Labeled: Environment Friendly—Vincotte Certified—Compostable 100% Natural—Machine washable 300 times. I never have machine washed. I find spraying with Shout gets out stubborn stains like blueberry and red sauce. One cloth lasts me a month and longer, used for washing dishes and general kitchen cleanup. I love it for kitchen appliances and countertops, wipes up without streaks.

**Q: Is it possible to purchase these without the plastic packaging?**
A: They do NOT come in plastic packaging. From the actual packaging: "The packaging is a biopolymer made from corn starch which is certified compostable, leading to further reduction in waste, greenhouse gases and diversion from landfill".

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 50 Stars!
*by S***M on August 5, 2020*

This is not just a sponge. The size they made clearly was designed for optimal cleaning, absorbing and scrubbing purposes. Any larger, it’d be difficult to handle and wont slide over surfaces as well, too small, it’d not be substantial enough in the hand. When cleaning countertops or flat surfaces, the little ‘nubby’ patterns grab dirt and small particles so well that you wont have to keep passing over the same spot over and over. It makes cleaning so much more efficient. But more important, it is super easy to rinse off with soap and water and dries super fast. Im still using same ones from April and no signs of needing retirement. I wouldn’t mind if they started making these in a slightly larger size purely for picking up spills. Other paper towel alternatives in the market are larger, but they’re much thinner and wont do the job of simply sopping up spills even as well as this smaller size. An incredibly useful and long lasting product for little money.
