They leave little trace (hole) in the wall that can be easily patched if needed. I purchased 6 different kinds of hanging devices (including the stick-on kind) and these are my favorite. They are easy to install and hold quite a bit of weight when only attached to drywall. For leveling of paintings, I recommend a laser to help ensure everything is level. You just install the hanger screw on the level line at the right distance apart, then hang your painting/picture. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Easiest and most reliable solution I've found for lath and plaster *by S***G on Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2023* Hanging stuff on lath and plaster walls is always a bit of a pain. I've tried many types of hangers and methods, and for me these are the most consistently easy and reliable. I've never had one fail (either at installation time or after the fact), and they are holding some impressively heavy pieces of art. The one downside is that they do make a substantially larger hole than a traditional nail-based hanger.
