Unfortunately in that same story they killed off the character, which became one of comics' classic deaths. Many of the negative revues shown there are a reflection of fanboy outrage because this the story that resurrects Kraven The Hunter. But 20 years is longer than most deaths in comics and what ends up happening over time is that reverence for one really good story has kept the character, that it showed could work, off the table in the modern era. The result is that we've had two decades of Kraven-wanna-bes. Obviously there has been something missing since this classic character was taken off the table. This story corrects that.Contrary to what another reviewer wrote, this is NOT a sequel to Fearful Symmetry! That story stands on it's own. The only relationship this story to that one is that this story resurrects the character that that one killed off. All of the back story here is related to events that had been building up in the Amazing Spider-Man series for about a year earlier, but you really don't need to read those other stories to get up to speed. There might be threads that you might not understand the reference to but they're not important to the story. In fact, most of those threads are fairly forgettable as what one of the things this story does is take elements that had been pretty lame in the past and make them kind of cool.Even though this is not a sequel to Fearful Symmetry it does pay reverence to that story by respecting that story. Kraven is not happy to be resurrected. He is not happy that the events in that other story, which he orchestrated, have been reversed. And hopefully fans who hold reverence for that story, but also understand why the character can't be kept off the table, can feel some comfort in that Kraven has even more internal conflict about his resurrection than they do.This is a good read. It's one of the darker Spider-Man Stories. It has amazing art by Michael Lark, who has proven himself on some of the industry's best books to be one of the masters of modern comics. I strongly recommend this book for people who might be apprehensive about the book because they think Spider-Man books aren't serious enough. This is just as strong as some of the better Batman or Daredevil books that have been done in the same time period. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Mostly disappointing with flashes of the fantastic *by K***S on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 13, 2012* Being a lifelong Spider-Man fan I try to keep up with the series whenever I can afford the steeply priced collections. Reading the many volumes that built up to The Grim Hunt I was ridiculously excited to read the climactic chapters. Unfortunately what I found was a muddy story that had some good moments.I've never been a fan of the spiritual aspect that Marvel injected in to Spidey's powers and place in the universe. Its always felt hokey, unbelievable, and never very well thought out. This is no different except in that they decided that death and violence would lead weight to the story they were trying to tell, and it did...at first. A character dies near the beginning of the book and it is emotional and powerful and left me so staggered that I had to put down the book.But then things get confusing and the story ultimately wanders around to a lackluster conclusion, and rushes some important moments. Would I recommend this book?
