So my son in law took it apart and found the two motors had collected all this dark hard melted plastic (tennis ball fuzz) and some un-melted tennis ball fluff that had been collected from all the tennis balls. Which explained the EXTRA long fuzz on the actual tennis balls as well. Had to use pliers and tweezers to get it out, wiped it clean, put it back together and it works like new. We are now using smooth plastic, rubber or foam like tennis balls and let me tell you no issues but they fly even further and we just need to wipe them down with a towel after each use or they don’t go far. It is very loud and gets louder the more you turn up the dial. The spiky ball sometimes gets stuck in the blue cup on the little crevices. I am worried about dirt and saliva buildup with it not being easy to clean. The noise alert that you're supposed to be able to turn on does not work when it's supposed to. Sometimes the ball catches in the mechanism and you have to push it through. If this item had been not on sale, I wouldn't have got it or I would've returned it for what it is listed as.
