I thought a rice cooker was supposed to make cooking rice fast and efficient.** A: When I found the small, high end Zojirushi rice cooker took more than twice as long to cook brown rice as a pot of boiling water on the stove top did, I returned it. Also sold on Amazon, the equivalent Korean brand Cuckoo cooks excellent brown rice in 45 minutes. I’ve used the 3 cup Cuckoo to cook every kind of grain from Amaranth to Teff, also lentils, split peas, and mixtures. **Q: how much larger, or smaller, is the "zoji cup" in comparison to a regular 1 cup measuring cup?** A: I dont know the volum of the regular 1cup measuring cup. I think it will be smaller than regular. I use the 2 ZOJI cups of white rice , the steam rice cooked will be 2/3 of the cooker ,I could eat it for 3 meals for myself( Chinese man) .If you are couple ,the 2 ZOJI cup should enough for tonight dinner and the lunch of the next day.I wish it will be helpful. **Q: Can you use vegetable broth instead of water?** A: Yes. It does a good job with broths. We recently cooked basmati with chick stock and finely diced onion and it did a great job. **Q: where is it made** A: Made in China. I've had this for about 4 months and so far no problems.
