Take turns pushing swords into the barrel until the head pops. OK, it's the suspense that is the fun part. The only complaint I have is in the mechanics of the game. The swords need to be pushed into the barrel with a very minor amount of force until it clicks in place. This is OK as the amount of pressure isn't difficult, but it is hard enough to push the whole barrel. So really, you should use 1 hand to push the sword while the other hand holds the barrel from toppling over. Not a real big deal, but it is what it is. Maybe, at the final pop, while you're holding the barrel, it adds to the surprise. Otherwise, I really like the game and the kids get a real kick out of it too.
