Take about an inch off of above and that would be your usable space. **Q: Does this come with storage boxes in the side compartments?** A: The description if you read it says it comes with 3 boxes. So if you don't get it then you need to return it because it is supposed to come with them. **Q: Does it rust ? How does it hold up overall** A: This is one of my most reliable tackle boxes. It’s light and quick to use. Everything is handy. The only thing I would encourage the manufacture to do is to add the 2 x side plastic boxes one must buy in addition.
