These are just the right size for my thick, shoulder-blade length hair. I was worried they would be too heavy and pull on my hair, but they don't pull and are not too heavy no matter where on my head, whether nape or up top, I place this. If you have thinner hair however, they may pull some as they are a bit heavier than the plastic clips. The spring seems to be made and attached very solid and sturdy too.
