This was the first time I tried the dry granular instead of the spray on product I can buy at the local hardware store. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Seems to deter sod-digging raccoons *by M***N on Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2013* I bought this product to discourage bunnies and dogs from focusing a couple of spots on my lawn. I figured that any scented deterrent would suffice. However, a couple of nights ago I had a raccoon come and dig up a patch of my sodded lawn. In my experience, once a raccoon finds a few worms and grubs, they return every night until they exhaust the supply. So I sprinkled a little animal stopper over the sodded area (maybe 1/4 cup per sq yard) and waited to see what happened. It's two days on now and the raccoons have not yet gone for another dig. I'm attributing that that to the effectiveness of this product. Five stars so far!Here's an update a couple of months on. After about a week and a half the raccoon returned to turn up my lawn again. It's summer and I'm watering every other day, so I'd guess the deterrent effect is getting washed away. I reset the lawn and reapplied the product, but the raccoon came back the very next night to turn the sod over again. I guess it was willing to deal with the smell. This time time I applied the product under the turf before replacing it hoping that the smell would get more intense the deeper the raccoon got into the sod. That application kept the little critter away for about six weeks. It has come back to visit, turning up the edges a bit each night, but no more flipping. So if your problem is a sod-flipping raccoon, try applying the product to the soil under the sod, then a little up top. You might have better luck and more lasting results.
