Review: Good budget scope option - I've been using the UTG 3-9x40 BugBuster scope on my air and rimfire rifles, and it has proven to be a solid choice. The build quality is impressive, and it offers excellent value for its price point. While it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of higher-end scopes, it performs admirably for shorter-range shooting. Pros: Build Quality: The scope feels sturdy and well-constructed, providing confidence in its durability. Value for Money: Priced around $100, it offers features that are hard to beat at this price. Parallax Adjustment: This adjustment is a valuable feature, especially for air rifles and rimfire rifles since it goes down to 3 yards, allowing for clearer focus at various distances. Cons: Quick Detach (QD) Mounts: While functional, the QD mounts are not my favorite. They can be a bit finicky during installation and may not provide the same level of stability as more premium mounts. Aftermarket Parallax Wheel Compatibility: If you plan to add an aftermarket parallax wheel, be aware that there might be fitment issues. The design of the mounts may not accommodate certain wheels without modification. Overall, the UTG 3-9x40 BugBuster scope is a commendable choice for those seeking a reliable and affordable optic for air and rimfire rifles. Its performance and features make it a worthwhile investment for shooters at various skill levels.
Review: This is a great scope for the money - This is a great scope for the money, even at a higher price. I have this mounted on my DPMS Oracle that has a flat-top, and the only thing that I would have liked better, would have been that it had higher profile mounts, but that's my personal preference, as such, this scope is ready to go right out of the box. Sight picture is clear as day, no issues, fully adjustable. Has nice instructions for how to set use the mil-dots, and it comes with a cheat sheet specifically for this scope. Personally, I like the illumination, even though I'll probably never use it at low light, but it's nice to have just in case. My only gripe with this scope is the eye relief. It stays long eye relief, but that's not really the case. I have to be really close to the scope to get a good picture. With a Magpul MOE adjustable stock, I have to set the stock at the halfway point, with the scope mounted so that the eye ring is one rail notch forward of the charging handle. Other wise you "hit" the scope every time you have to pull the charging handle. That's the main reason for wanting a higher profile mount. To those who say they got a dud, unfortunately maybe you got one of the very few duds, unfortunately it can happen regardless of price level or brand. Don't let one bad experience ruin it for you. Send it back, as I'm sure you know, desertcart will refund or exchanges just about anything, and painlessly. Have them send you another and give it a another try. Since I have used the same scope on both a 223/556 AR and a 300 BLK AR, because it has resettable zero points, it's no issue getting back to zero when switching between rifles. The only reason I have not bought a second one of these as a dedicated scope for the 300 BLK is because I'm planning on getting another UTG scope with a higher zoom level for the 223/556 AR and will use this 3x9 on the 300BLK. Just have to decide on which one I want. But I’m sure whichever one I get it will be just as good. And if I get a dud, I know both desertcart and UTG will take care of it. For the record, I've only had this scope for about 2 moths now, but I've used it every Sunday since then; easily shooting 60 to 80 rounds of both 223 & 300BLk each, that's about 120 to 140 rounds an outing, and still holds true. Even with switching between riffles and mucking with the zero adjustments. At 100 yards, set to 9x max, or set to 3x min, I hit the gong repeatedly and consistently in just about the same 2 to 4 inch group. Again, I've had good luck with it so far. If I were you, I’d give another shot, no pun intended.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: There have been complaints of a misaligned reticle, has anyone experienced or heard of this?**
A: I read about this complaint in posts prior to me buying this scope. I did not experience this problem. Mine is mounted on a 1" riser to get above the battle sights. I had it bore sighted at my local gun shop and he thought the scope was fine. I zeroed it at 100yds on my AR15. It was shooting 1.5" groups. As Paul replied it will not compare with the more expensive models but it does a decent job for the price. I do have to get out and shoot again as the last time I went it was shooting almost 3 MOA high. There was a 30mph wind blowing so the next time out I will see if it was the wind or the scope not holding zero.

**Q: Do I need a risor mount for this scope on my AR- 15 M&P model ?**
A: I put a 1" Monstrum riser rail on my S&W M&P 15 Sport 2. The biggest problem was to get the proper eye relief for the scope, I had to mount the scope all the way to the rear of the top rail. That works but it makes pulling the charge handle a pretty tight maneuver.

**Q: What is the effective range of this scope? For .223/5.56**
A: Im really picky, and while this scope offered EVERYTHING I needed, they dont go into detail of exact reticle sizes... the reticle to me is WAY too large. At 50 yards the 'cross' area is like .5" wide at 9x. AT 50! so at 600 thats half the width of a face. TiborasaurusRex (youtube) goes over the effective range of the .223"/5.56mm regardless of scope.

**Q: what is the overall length of this scope can some answer for me please.**
A: With the sun shade, it's 10.25" long.. I always use the sun shade, due to lighting conditions where I shoot..

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Price Makes it Worth Consideration
*by B***. on December 9, 2017*

I first of all need to describe the features on the scope I received because there are so many variants of this scope. Starting at the eyepiece and moving forward, mine: does not have an EZ-TAP Control Panel, has Zero Resetting Windage & Elevation Turrets, has a third turret used as a Reticle Illumination Rheostat, has a Zero Locking Ring on the Windage & Elevation Turrets, has a Mil-Dot Reticle which can be illuminated Red or Green (not 36 color IE), has a Parallax Adjustable Objective lens. It is identical to the one pictured when I bought my scope. Included with the scope were: a set of Quick Disconnect Rings (there are 4 different ring sets available), a 2 inch Sunshade, a pair of lens covers, a battery (and spare) for the illuminated reticle, a cleaning cloth, and three allen wrenches. Bearing in mind that I got this to put on a .22 rifle (Ruger American Rimfire (Target)). The good: The scope has a good quality look and feel to it. The adjustments (Eyepiece, Magnification & Parallax) are smooth and have a comfortable amount of resistance. The Windage & Elevation Turrets are easily adjusted and have noticeable (though only slight) "clicks". Zero Locking Rings (the first I've ever encountered on a scope turret) at the base of the turrets are tightened to keep inadvertent adjustments from being made. 1/2 turn of the ring is all that is required to tighten or loosen the ring. I really like this feature! Another feature I really like (but many will not care about) is the Turret Scale Zeroing feature. Once you have zeroed the scope, you can easily reset the turret visual scale "0" marking to be adjacent with a reference mark on the side of the turret. The optics are very good, though not premium quality. The reticle is crisp and clear (once eyepiece is adjusted) but perhaps a bit on the thick side (especially for a .22). I used the lighted reticle only briefly (I don't expect to use that feature much). It seemed to work fine. I'm so far pleased with the accuracy (having only shot twice with limited types of ammo), but I'm reserving judgement until I do more shooting with it. Now, the not so good: There is nothing that I would consider bad about the scope or accessories, but I did notice the following: It is a compact scope. So, there is limited area for placement of rings and therefore not much room for scope movement fore and aft within the rings (about 3/8" is all). On my rifle (a rifle issue more than the scopes), in order to get the eyepiece in a position to provide proper eye relief I had to use a mount with an offset (the aft ring is about 1 1/2" behind the base of the mount). The objective lens bell is somewhat large. The bell's walls are a bit thick which makes the outside diameter of the bell 46mm. Depending on the receiver of the firearm mounted on, you may need medium or even high rings. As mentioned previously, the reticles are a bit on the thick side (but not ridiculously so) for my particular requirements. I wasn't thrilled with the rings, specifically the Quick Disconnect component. I only used them briefly (had to go with the mount mentioned above), but did have some difficulty getting the Quick Disconnect levers adjusted to the proper tension as described in the manual. They didn't seem to work as explained. The field of view does start to blur around the edges as the magnification is increased. It is noticeable at the 7 thru 9 magnifications. The reticle and target area are not affected, and it's not something I would return the scope for. In closing I would say that although I might have some reservations about using this scope on a larger powered rifle, or routinely in harsh conditions, I would certainly put this scope on another one of my limited use .22 rifles! I will attach a pic for better understanding of the mount I mentioned.
