## Questions & Answers

**Q: Compare & contrast to the other MAX vacs, BDH2000L and BDH2000SL? Which vacuums better? (noise etc is secondary)**
A: Hi, my name is Austin. I'm the product manager for hand vacs at Black+Decker. A simple "better" between all these Lithium hand vacs is a tough answer but I'll do my best. The Pivot (BDH2000PL) has the strongest suction and packs down the smallest for storage. If you're just looking for huge power in a convenient storage size this is the one you want. The Flex With Floor Head (BDH2020FLFH and BDH1620FLFH) are the most versatile and have the longest run time. The 4 foot hose, accessories, and floor head make these perfect for floor to ceiling cleaning, picking up messes under the table, cleaning stairs, detail cleaning the car, etc. The pet hair attachment on the 20V, and soon to be available separately (BDH200FVPH), works great for pet hair as well as carpeted stairs, car upholstery etc. The more traditional hand vacs (BDH2000L, CHV1410L) have the longest crevice tools and largest capacity. The extra reach is great for getting cobwebs, bugs, and under and between appliances. All of these units have the strong suction and fade free power that comes with Lithium ion battery technology..

**Q: how long can it work?**
A: Ours was purchased in 2013 and is only now becoming unusable due to limited charging power. I guess 10 years for a $53 purchase is a pretty good payback. I’ve researched others and can’t find any with all the features of this little work horse. Love it and am buying again, hoping for another 10 years. And even with inflation it’s now only $69 which isn’t bad…

**Q: Approximately how long does a charge last?**
A: I thought I had the same charging issue as everyone else, but it turns out the vacuum wasn’t sitting completely against the charger. If the arm is folded all the way against the handle while in the charger, the base doesn’t fully connect. When I extend the arm slightly away from the handle, the base fully connects and you’ll see the blue light stay on (indicating the vacuum is charging.) when the blue light turns off, you know the vacuum is fully charged.) It says in the instructions that you’ll need to charge the new vacuum before using.

**Q: Is there an instruction manual available online for this hand vac?**
A: Here is a link to the manual:http://documents.dewalt.com/documents/English/Instruction%20Manual/90603456,BDH2000PL.pdf

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 9 Years Old, Still works great!!
*by T***T on September 7, 2025*

As I was using my Pivot today to clean up a cereal spill in the kitchen, I realized I have had this productive long time. I looked it up in my orders on Amazon, and it turns out I got it in 2016!I was amazed! This vac has been great, especially with regard to reliability and durability over the past 9 years.String suction, always charged and ready, and well built. I definitely give this product my highest recommendation!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Compact and Powerful
*by D***. on August 22, 2025*

I have used Black and Duster hand held vacs for the past 39 yrs. I bought this model bc years ago the company sent me one as as a replacement for another model. It is by far the longest running model I've used.Recently I bought 2 of these and I lovethis vac so much I'm purchasing another one for my family room. This model has never disappointed me. It's compact very powerful and reliableThank you Black and Decker for keeping this model in your line. It is worth the price and it does the job.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Improvement over PHV1800
*by A***1 on November 22, 2015*

Thank you Amazon for having a sale on this portable vacuum cleaner! I just got this about a week ago and only used it once for some light vacuuming of dust and hairs which worked perfectly. As directed by the instructions, I charged it for 24 hours, actually a little bit more, before first usage. I know using it once and plus for light usage doesn't speak well for my review but I want to point out that I have some history with Black and Decker Pivot vacuums. My previous portable vacuum cleaner was also a Black and Decker, specifically PHV1800. I had that vacuum for about 7+ years and I love the suction power and pivot design. Of course since it's cordless, the battery wore out over time. Now it only lasts a few minutes after a full charge. However I've never had an issue with it. In fact I never replaced the filter. I was meticulous in cleaning the canister and filter when it was medium dirty or sometimes even just light dirty. For the filter, I would shake out the dark gray junk and then use a toothpick to pick out the junk in each fold of the filter.Again because of the battery issue I thought it was finally time to retire the old one and buy a new one. I was a little hesitant to buy the BDH2000PL after reading reviews of the vacuum going dead after about a month or so for some unknown reasons. After some consideration, I decided to give Black and Decker the benefit of a doubt based on past experiences. I never had any issues with my previous B&D portable vacuum. Also years ago my family got a B&D Dustbuster and we never had issues then. So I am of the mindset that B&D makes reliable products at good consumer level prices.I like this vacuum so far and yes it hasn't died yet. Battery withstanding, this new one is a big improvement over my old PHV1800. It is a lot lighter and also has less mass. The canister can now be completely removed from the main unit for a thorough cleaning without lugging the the whole thing around like the old one. I like that the brush is now integrated into the nozzle. With the old one, the brush was a separate thing that I left plugged into the charger base and was too lazy or never noticed it to take it out and use it. The pivot feels like it has a smoother ratchet than the old one.One thing that worries me a bit though is the vacuum doesn't sound as loud as my old one. Maybe I am just equating loudness with suction power or I am not knowledgeable of any technology improvements B&D has done to this vacuum. I will just have to use it more to see how it goes.Oh one more thing, my old one actually has two "On" levels: regular power or high power vacuuming. Whenever I use the vacuum, the old one, I naturally push the switch up to the highest point until it stops. I forgot the old one's switch has a middle point before reaching the end. So I guess for my usage maybe the new one is an improvement because it removes the middle point which I never used. But so far this vacuum works. I also like the improvements over the old one so I'm convinced this new one is great. :)
