Ported subs tend to boom in a certain range. If the boom of a ported sub falls into a place where a person prefers it, then it is hard to beat a ported sub. However, I find with music, movies and a variety of media that having a cleaner sub sound appeals to more people. Finding a sealed sub that doesn't cost an arm and a leg isn't easy. Finding one from a company that does it well, even more difficult. This sub fits all those criteria.
