A: This devices acts like a keyboard, except rather than having keys that you push it reads the "keys" off of the back of a credit card and enters them in to wherever you want them to go. So you would likely need a merchant account if you are wanting to actually charge the card. By itself this device does nothing other than read the data off the back of a credit card.

**Q: Does this reader work with Windows 7?**
A: Yes, it does work with Windows 7.  I bought 2 of them and they work great!  I was a little concerned because they were so inexpensive, but no problem...

**Q: Does this read info off ids?  Specifically, California DMV.**
A: If the information is on tracks 1-3 of a magnetic stripe, it will read it.

**Q: Whether this product can write new code on a blank card?**
A: No, it can not, read only
