Review: It's not the Nakamichi of old, but it's still a really solid deck NA1200S - I have this deck in a Mazda Miata hooked to a 2 channel Kenwood amp and a Kenwood powered sub. I can't comment on the sound quality or volume through the factory speaker wires as I'm not using them. This deck replaced a Jensen that was pretty close to the price point but had a few more features. I didn't change the input levels on the amp or sub but my sound quality did improve a bit. This is most likely due to the Nakamichi having a better equalizer than the Jensen. I do wish it had a volume knob, but the volume controls are pretty easy to get to and they respond quickly. I have a memory stick with 600+ songs attached to the rear USB input on the deck and it takes about 15 seconds to get it's mind right when I start the car. I also have a rearview camera installed and the picture quality on the screen is good as long as you don't mess too much with the color of the display. "not sure why there, but if you are using a custom color on the deck, the camera also displays that color change" I still give the deck 5 stars for exceeding my expectations at this price point. The rear rca's are also the subwoofer rca's so if you're running a full 4 channel set up with a sub, this is not the deck you want unless you have a very flexible amp with a sub output on it. For me it was ideal as I've just got front speakers and a sub. Anyway, don't let the average reviews sway you, it's a quality deck that gives you a lot of tonal control.
Review: It sounds great with the stock speakers - I self-installed this unit, and it was very simple to install with the purchase of an inexpensive Metra dash kit and Metra wiring harness. I set up the wiring harness in my living room in about 10 minutes, and then the unit install only took about 30 minutes in an '02 Mustang after spending about double that time watching install videos on YouTube (to learn how to detach the dash panels). It sounds great with the stock speakers, has a great look with easy selection of colors, responsive touch screen, clear screen resolution, and it creates playlists quickly from a cheap thumb drive I plugged in. The playlist will display artist and album info with album artwork, so I get the iPod look and feel with a $10 thumb drive. I also installed a license plate mounted rear camera to the unit, and it works well. I have one complaint that's related to built-in safety features, and they're the reason I gave this unit 4 stars instead of 5 stars. I didn't buy a bypass for video in motion as I have no need or interest in playing video while driving. However, that means the unit has to be wired to the parking brake, and I wasn't able to locate the parking brake wire or any videos or information online showing how to locate the wire. There are plenty showing how to bypass the safety feature, but I wanted to install it "correctly". As a result, I can't play DVDs at all. I may end up just buying a bypass to finish the install, but it would be nice if that wire didn't exist (maybe it's a regulatory requirement; I don't know). Second, I have to turn off the rear camera on the touch screen after backing out of the driveway or the screen displays a black screen with a warning along the lines of "images may be reversed and objects may be closer than they appear". It's a small annoyance on a great unit, and I expect a professional installer would have been able to easily overcome both issues. Professional installation would have almost doubled my cost, so the small annoyances are ok while I do more research. Would I buy this unit again? Absolutely.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Backing up camera important. Does "color. no camera." indicate that it will not support a camera or that it does not come with camera?**
A: it is camera ready, it does not come with the camera

**Q: Will it work with 256Gb USB SDD external drive and play MP3 off of it?**
A: I have a different model, but same line. It played from a 500GB usb drive fine. The thing is it has to be formatted to FAT32 or it won't read. I use a 128GB flash drive on two different Pioneer AVH models fine as well. According to the manual there are file and folder limits though (I think 15K file/1500folder, not positive though), so 256gb may be overkill to be honest (I do have 10K+ mp3 on my 128 with room for more). I only tried the 500GB out of curiosity. Also a note on the 160gb iPod working... that's because it runs off the iPod o/s, making the size and format irrelevant. It also runs much slower than using a usb drive as a result.

**Q: Will this unit display the album art when an ipod nano 7th gen is played via usb port? I would assume so.**
A: Yes it does, it also shows the album pic of which the song is from

**Q: Can i change the color of the buttons?**
A: Yes you can changed them to a varity of colors. Off the top of my head I remember there is green red orange blue, etc. or you can set your settings so the buttons change to the entire variety of colors one after another.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ It sounds great with the stock speakers

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 08 F250 Super Duty
*by C***Y on May 18, 2015*

Happy with the radio. For those of you with the 08 and similar super duty: Buy the trim kit, buy the radio adapter harness, buy the parking brake bypass, buy the antenna adapter. If you do the backup cam, you will need extra video cable. Im very happy with my purchase but I wish there was more information with regards to what we need to buy to make it actually happen! Seems like everything is disabled without the parking brake on. For those of you who are smart enough to dial or use aps at traffic lights or parked without setting the parking brake, the bypass is worth the money. Lastly, the nav kit is $300. Think thats a lot. The factory touchscreen from ford is about $650. If you want nav, this unit and all the pieces will cost the same but the factory one will plug right in. Not sure how good it is though.
