Mom was able to hear me clearly and I was able to hear and understand her the same as if she were talking on a regular phone. I do wish it were waterproof, so she can wear it in the shower. The best feature is it is a one time purchase with NO monthly fee. Price is reasonable, we bought it on Cyber Monday and saved $100. The device reaches the family members, but also has the back-up of 911.
