THE LISTENING WALK was one of our favorite books. We were living then on a nine-acre piece of lovely wooded property in Florida and would often take our own "listening walks" in those woods, paying attention to the sounds around us. That original copy of the book has been lost, but I wanted to revisit the theme and the experience with my grandchildren, especially the two youngest, who just turned five years old. Buy the book, read the book with a child or children you love, and then go take your own listening walks, and do so often.
