Maybe slightly (like BARELY) loose in the back but all I have to do is tighten the laces a bit. It’s not loose enough for me to go down to a 7 1/2, and it’s probably like that because of being up on the heels with my feet at a downward angle, but my feet don’t slip out or anything..I’m also pretty new to heels lol. I seriously love that I feel like an adult woman when I’m out and about with them on. They’re comfy and easy when it comes to walking in heels, and they’re casual enough to wear with jeans and a cute jacket or something. They were comfortable right away, don't rub the back of my ankle, are roomy in the toe, and have good traction. Plus they're professional and pretty! My favorite look with these shoes (not pictured, sorry), is with thick tights and a sweater dress. I wear size 8.5 and my feet are a little wide, but since I wanted to wear these with socks or footed tights I bought a 9. I originally ordered a size 7, the number 38 is on the bottom. They are a little big, so I reordered a half size down. I was sent the same shoe, same fit, number 38 on the bottom. That's a disappointment. I'm not sure what to do now, and there was a couple dollar difference with the smaller size. Part of me want to reorder a 6, but don't want them to be too smallI'm really happy with everything else. They are sturdy. They are comfortable.
