If you are installing it on a sailboat you will need a through deck connector (watertight) then an additional length of coax from the through deck connetor to your radio. **Q: I am going on a over land trip through north Maine woods . How well do you think this antenna would receive work mounted to my truck ?** A: It is designed to be either very high (on a mast) or over open water - you might do better with trucker type CB antennas for ground use **Q: Does the antenna unscrew from base?
