Review: At a loss for words - Warning, it's a long read, but I wanted to go into deep detail. To start, I have been a Rainbow vacuum user for so long. I love them and felt they worked amazingly. Next, I have 3 dogs & a cat. One is a thick coat lab and the cat sheds so much as well. Another next, I have horrible allergies and wanted something that would help keep them calm as well. I also have a lung disease and need something that will pick up as much junk as possible to keep them clear. Now, on to the Shark vacuum. I got tired of lugging around the Rainbow and wanted to look into a vacuum that my daughter could use and help out. I found this Shark vacuum and 6 others that grabbed my attention. I dug deep. I read through every review, good, bad, indifferent. I wanted a vacuum that was going to truly pick up pet hair/dander, as well as pick up sand & dirt. I was drawn to this specific vacuum saying pet & allergen vacuum and loved that so many of the reviews said it had amazing suction power. I thought there's no way ut can be as amazing as most were raving about. After 2 months of digging and narrowing down vacuums, I was left with this one. I finally decided to purchase it and see what all the fuss was about. It came in today and I immediately out it together to the it out. I had just vacuumed with my Rainbow vacuum 2 days before, so I didn't expect much. Oh....my....gosh...! I am blown away! Seriously, no joke! The picture you see attached was after 2 passes over a 2' x 2' area in my living room. Not kidding...pushed it forward, pulled it back. Did this one other time. I was completely astonished! There is no way my carpet is that dirty after using my Rainbow 2 days before! I swore by that vacuum and how great of a job it did, so I thought. This vacuum pulled out dirt, sand, pet fur from 3 families ago, it seems lol. I immediately took this picture and dumped the resivoir since it was full. I was excited to finish the rest of my living room and then move on to the rest of the house. It took me 30 minutes to vacuum my living room because I had to keep stopping to empty the reservoir. I am grossed out that it was that dirty, but so grateful that I purchased this Shark vacuum. The vacuum is super easy to put together. It's not heavy and is easy to use. I love that it has the large vacuum and the option to break it down to a hand held vacuum to get baseboards and hard to reach areas. I also love that the power switch has 3 positions; Off, Bare floor, and carpet. I love that there is a place on the vacuum for hose attachments. I love that the power cable is quite long. I love that it's compact enough to fit in my coat closet, but large enough to vacuum the living room quicker than the sport vacuum. It makes vacuuming a breeze. The price is amazing for being a Shark vacuum. This vacuum is so amazing that I finished vacuuming, rinsed the resivoir and filter, put it away, and immediately sat down to write this review. Seriously give this vacuum a try! Your only regret is that you didn't get it sooner. I will update this review if anything changes. I am convinced this is the perfect vacuum.
Review: If you’re unsure, go for it! - I’m impressed. My 2nd Dyson lasted less than half the years my first one did. I figured I’d try this. Wow! I guess my Dyson stopped working well long before I noticed! My first pass with the shark I had to empty the cup almost immediately. I feel like 5 pounds of sand was sucked out of the carpet! I got replacement filters immediately since it was obvious my carpets have been neglected. Since using it my carpets have been so much cleaner. It works great. A few cons: cord is not that long. Collecting area is smaller than what I’m used to, the hose is awkward if I don’t lift it from base. Lastly the suction is so strong (not a bad feature)it is a workout to vac, it does have a suction dial to lessen the suction so that is a plus. Overall I’m happy with my purchase. Kinda wished I would have bought the next model up but having never owned a shark, I started cheaper. I have 2 dogs, cats and live in farm country. If this vac works for me, it can work for anyone!

**Q: Why is the little rectangle on the side sucking in so much air and causing it not to work?**
A: Just experienced this "rectangle sucking tons of air" problem with my UV850 Shark - turns out there was not one but two blockages: one in the hose and one in the very base of vacuum (which necessitated using a screwdriver to open the two grey screws on the bottom). Once I got these cleared the vacuum was back to normal.

**Q: What is the difference between Shark NV 352  and the NV 356**
A: The 352 has a 25 foot cord, the 356 (professional) is 30', the hard floor tools are different. The 356 has a microfiber 'dust pad' that goes over the hardwood floor attachment. The 352's hard floor attachment has a 'V' shape to funnel debris no pad, but it does have a duster attachment both available to purchase separately. The dust cup on the 356 is larger and the overall machine is 2 lbs heavier then the 352. 356 also comes with a bag for the tools where my 352 did not. The other tools all appear to be the same on both models. They both run the same amps and can be converted into canister mode as well, but are aesthetically different.

**Q: How do you clean the filter?**
A: There is a HEPA filter in front of the vacuum, you lift the door from the bottom and you can take it out and wash it. and then you lift the canister out from the base ( like you're emptying the canister of dirt.) You will find 2 foam filters there. lift them both out and wash those too. Just dont throw in washing machine or dishwasher. I use dish detergent and wash them off in the sink. Just make sure they are completely dry before putting them back on the vacuum. After a dozen or so washings they will break down ( you will know this ) extra filters can be purchased on EBay or Amazon  or other websites. I usually clean the foam filters when they are a very dark brown or gray  color,then i also wash the HEPA filter also. Good luck! **Q: Does it pick up paper clips?**
A: My old vacuum picks up paper clips and staples.  However, it's not a Shark vacuum.  And it's been going since 2005. Maybe Eureka is the way to go :).

This vacuum is absolutely worth buying. It’s loud, but not in a way that makes it hard to use — just powerful. I had to push firmly to lock a couple of pieces into place during assembly, but once everything clicked, it ran perfectly. The noise level matches the strength of the motor, and that strength translates into excellent cleaning performance. For a $200 vacuum, it exceeded my expectations. I even found a few useful features I didn’t notice right away. Overall, I’m extremely happy with this purchase and highly recommend it.
